Recertification Course Process

  • 1. Blended Learning

    Complete your online blended learning prior to your recertification date. Ensure you are familiar with all material.

  • 2. Pre-requisite testing

    All recertication participants must complete the prerequisite swimming skills.

  • 3. Skills Session

    Attend your in-person skills session. Participants must complete blended learning no less than 24 hours prior to the first skills session. There are no refunds or exceptions.

  • 4. Receive and Upload Certification

    Upload your certification to Paycom and ensure your onboarding checklist is complete.

How can I be successful in the course?

    Review instructions and below FAQ’s carefully to ensure you’re ready to go!

    1. Ensure you have the right supplies each day
    2. Review addresses, and session times carefully.

  • Complete blended learning early

    Don’t wait until the last minute to complete your online learning.

    All blended learning must be completed no less than 24 hours prior to your skills session.

    Attempting to rush your online learning will impact your ability to fine tune your skills prior to assessment.

  • Be prepared for your skills session

    Attend all in-person skills sessions. Participants must complete blended learning prior to the first skills session. Participants without a mark of completion are not eligible to continue in the course. No exceptions!

    Check the day before to ensure your My Learning displays complete.

  • Be a professional

    We treat the lifeguard course as a continuation of your interview! Here's some pointers our Instructors will be looking for:

    1. Display professional, mature behavior at all times.
    2. Treat other participants with respect, as your fellow AMG Team Members.
    3. Listen carefully to the instructor. They’re a master of the material, please respect them as they teach.
    4. Be a team player.

  • Come ready to test

    The final skills session is reserved for testing the skills you learned during online learning, and perfected during the skills sessions. Come prepared to show us what your learned!

  • Have Fun!

    Lifeguarding is the best summer job, and we want you to have fun! You’ll make new friends and get to know some coworkers along the way!

Frequently asked questions

  • Participants should wear their AMG uniform to training. If you have not yet received your uniform, it is recommended participants wear swim trunks/suits designed to withstand jumps, turns, and high-impact movements.

  • Participants should bring the following to their PreReq Day:

    -Goggles
    -Towel
    -Water Bottle
    -Pocket Mask

    Participants should bring the following to each Skills Session day:

    -2 Towels Minimum (They will get wet!)
    -Water Bottle
    -Packed Lunch
    -Snacks, as needed
    -Pencil or Pen
    -Change of clothes (AMG Shirt recommended)

  • As soon as you complete your interview, it is recommended you sign up for a course immediately. Lifeguard courses will fill up and course caps are strictly limited in accordance with American Red Cross and AMG standards.
